Some shoot up, some can’t some shoot long, some short. At time of writing, there’s only one resource to track (though the dev does plan to add more forms of economy later), and units don’t have “special activated abilities”, they just shoot stuff. Limited balance issues (but nothing super OP) and occasionally awkward pathfinding occur, but the simplicity and variety of gameplay through such simple mechanics plus a reliable lobby system makes the game a ton of fun. Warplan PacificĮxcellent simple game presenting solid RTS fundamentals with a non-threatening interface. While single player works I didn’t spend too much time there, and feel the game shines in Multiplayer. you might build a big land force, but your opponent might see it coming and counters you with air units etc. The varied selection of units I feel brings some good strategy to the game – e.g. There’s a single “race” but you have a fairly varied selection of units (air/sea/land units plus upgrades for each type, experimental mega-units that excel in different aspects, plus of course, nukes). The game itself is fairly simple: there’s one resource type, which you typically mine at the start of the game, and then build more expensive buildings in later game to produce it. Captures the old school feel really wellĬaptures the old school feel really well, excels in multiplayer team battles. So, why do I love it so? Well, it is a little under polished, it has that indie sheen, and for all the Command and Conquer methodology to send these units into death, there is a charm to it. With the obligatory comments of the graphics not being the shiny and polished anus of a horse as it poos. Then finally, the AI can often get stuck on itself for a second, running into builds, others tanks, and anything with a detection wall around it stopping them. The resource is one solitary thing mined at specific points, though can be produced with the fabricator. Well, it is not huge, but It is large enough for a few hours of gleefully bishing and bashing the enemy until you get the spider mech, nukes, and other parts from a long-form game. So what’s the catch? NEBULOUS: Fleet Command For $4.99, there’s plenty for fans of the genre and at the price point and my established lack of experience of the genre, I’d highly recommend it to anyone. With custom maps, mountains of mods, and several standard single-player game modes, there is more than enough for any RTS fan. A mode specifically to send an endless horde at you like you’re working at the sewage treatment plant. Though, if you want to know what it is like to play online you could just play the endless survival mode. I’ve never touched the multiplayer, though I assume it would be a never-ending game of nuclear standoffs at the 12th hour. With an almost endless supply of content for single-player, you could have almost as much fun as those that know what’s on the internet. It is simple, it is classic, and is ridiculous fun. With 10 Missions, 48 Skirmish Maps, 5 Survival Maps, and 7 Challenge Missions, there is over 40 hours of content availble to you from the getgo, with even further playability offered through the games Level Editor, a bonafide sandbox mode, and through Custom Maps and Mods that are in abundance for this game, allowing you to experience fresh content at your leisure. Inspired by classics such as Total Annihilation, Supreme Commander, and Command & Conquer, the player is tasked with constructing bases, building units, and conquering the enemy while defending your resources from opposing assault.
